This class introduces principles and skills that constitute the discipline of architecture.  Exercises in two and three dimensions explore architectonics, space, enclosure, and graphic techniques for communication. For this studio, music is used as inspiration for design, culminating in the creation of space that not only responds to a specific genre of music, but also to the physical context in which it exists.

Architectural Phases

 

[SD]-SCHEMATIC Design

this phase Develops study drawings, Documents, and other media that ILLUSTRATES concepts of the design and include spatial relationships, scale, and form for the owner to review. zoning REQUIREMENTS or jurisdictional restrictions are discovered and addressed

[DD]- Design Development

this phase lays out mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural and architectural details. during this phase it is typical to ADDRESS specific design ELEMENTS such as material types and locations of windows and doors 

[CD]- Construction Documents

This phases involves the highest level of detail. Typically includes specific construction details and specification of MATERIALS. 

[CA]- Construction Administration

This phase happens during actual construction of the project. clarifications in forms of sketches and drawings are given to buildings in order to match the drawings in the construction DOCUMENTATION phase.approval is also given to subcontractors materials and methods before actual insulation and COMPLETION of the project.  

[Cm]- Construction Management

This phase happens during construction. CM’s oversee specialized contractors and other personnel, schedule and coordinate all construction processes so that projects meet design specifications, ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget, work closely with other building specialists, such as architects, civil engineers, and a variety of trade workers, including stonemasons, electricians, and carpenters.
