This proposal arose from a delicate way of handling the flood plain. In this idea the proposed project would either cantilever over or lightly touch the flood plain. It would predominantly be anchored via one of the two islands on the site with the remainder of the structure referencing the other island. None of the building will be built in the flood plain thus the only flood plain calculations needed to adhere to the code are any structural members coming in contact with the flood plain.

This proposal suggests the program be extended from one island to the other with segments of the program potentially being broken into segments to reduce the amount of footprint in the floodplain. This proposal would allow the biggest intervention of designed space within the flood plain and may provide opportunities for the flow of the flood plain to inform form.

This proposal only has buildable program on either of the two islands. While the island depth is not large enough to handle the program in its entirety, the structure is proposed to submerge in the island to the level of the water depth. This references the flood plain by ignoring its entirety.
